　2006年より展開され，全世界でヒットを飛ばした「Saints Row」。そのリブート作品となるのが，本作「セインツロウ」だ。主人公はギャング団「セインツ」のボスであるプレイヤー自身。タフな女性メンバーのニーナ，荒事を得意とする屈強なケビン，頭脳派だが小心者のイーライの負け犬3人組と共に，アメリカ南西部の架空都市「サント・イレソ」でさまざまなミッションをこなし，勢力を拡大していく。
　CERO「Z」指定から分かるように，本作のゲーム内容はなかなかにバイオレンス。激しいアクションと明るいブラックユーモアを思いっきり堪能できる。また，2人プレイにも対応しており，友人と協力プレイを楽しめる。

●広大なオープンワールドでメチャクチャできる！

　9つの地区で構成されたサント・イレソは広大なオープンワールド。プレイヤーはその中で好き勝手自由に暴れ回ることができる。街をうろつく一般人や敵対するギャング団のメンバーを殴る蹴る撃つといった気分次第の暴力はもちろんのこと，街中を走る車を奪ったり，ウイングスーツでアメコミヒーローの如く滑空したりと，オープンワールドならではの自由な遊びを楽しめる。

　ゲームシステムの理解が進めば，さらにハイレベルな“お遊び”も可能となる。爆弾を詰めた人形を撃つ「ピニャータ・ランチャー」，相手を捕まえ，その服に手榴弾を放り込んで投げ飛ばす「パイナップル・エクスプレス」など，奇想天外な武器やスキルを駆使し，現実だったらシャレにならないハチャメチャを楽しもう。

●個性豊かなキャラを作成できる豊富なカスタマイズ要素

　本作の主人公であるギャング団のボスは，プレイヤーの好みで自由にキャラクターメイキングできる。肌や髪の色，筋肉量，肌の光沢，古傷，タトゥー，ヘアスタイル，ヒゲなどのほかに，体毛や全裸時に股間へ入る修正といったユニークな項目も存在する。もちろん，街で衣装を買い込んでさまざまなオシャレも楽しめる。

　このキャラクターメイキングを一足先に楽しめる「ボス・ファクトリー」が，2022年7月末に配信される予定（※7月22日時点）なので，気になる人はダウンロードしていろいろと弄ってみよう。また，「セインツ」の本拠地では，施設を追加したり，自由に飾り付けたりできるほか，メンバーや相棒の衣装も変更できる。ただ，武器などの装備をパワーアップさせていくだけでなく，見た目にもこだわれるのが本作の面白いところであり，ついつい凝り性が出てしまうポイントの1つになっている。
